WILD LANDSCAPES

Next March join us for a 7 day landscape and seascape photography workshop on the stunning Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.


The Isle of Harris on the Outer Hebrides is one of the most stunning regions of Scotland , the beaches along the western coast are some of the most spectacular in the UK and this is where we will be spending our time. Pristine White beaches, sand dunes and a variety of backdrops will give us plenty of opportunity to capture some stunning shots.
 
John & I will be on hand to help you with all aspects of the photographic experience. We will be there to help with everything from getting the most out of your camera equipment, what camera settings are best for the type of image you want to take, how to use filtration correctly (graduated/neutral density filters and polarizers), to when not to use them at all.

We can cover the full workflow of finding the best location for the weather and light direction, finding composition in the landscape, correct techniques from setting up to shoot to producing sharp balanced exposures without lens flare even when shooting directly into sunlight.

We can cover long exposures for motion in the sky and flowing water, beautiful wide-angle landscapes to telephoto landscape photography with techniques to avoid camera shake.

Once back warm and cosy in our accomodation we will show you how to take the RAW files we have spent the day capturing and how to process them in a way that allows your artistic vision to be realized. John & I both have different approaches to processing using camera Raw , Light room & photoshop so you're sure to be able to pick up new tools and techniques whatever software you use.

Our aim from this trip is to have an amazing time in a stunning location with friendly like minded people and to learn loads. Leaving with a  refreshed approach to your landscape photography.

 
Accomodation

We will be based in a large luxury self-catering house with a sea view, the house has wifi, satellite. There are 4 bedrooms , 2 doubles with en-suite & 2 twins ( single occupancy ) with a shared bathroom. Rooms are allocated on a first come first served basis.
 
Fitness levels

This workshop will be suitable for everyone with all locations a short walk from the car. The terrain will be a mixture of sandy beaches and rocky headland.

Transportation

We will meet at the port of Ullapool in Assynt  , where we will catch the ferry to over to Stornoway on Lewis & drive south to Harris. You can leave your vehicle for free in a private carpark in Ullapool & collect upon our return.
All transportation on Harris will be in 2 workshop vehicles.
